today was my appointment time for class registration for the fall semester. of course i was crazy all morning. it also didn’t help that karmaloop did this promo where they randomly tweeted (5) $100 giftcodes for reaching 50,000 followers. since i’ve had amazing luck on twitter, i convinced myself i’d be able to do some back to school shopping for the boys. c picked some neff backpacks for the boys & a couple t-shirts, it was just sitting in the cart and when i finally got my hands on the final giftcode (along with 49,999 other twitter followers)… the site decided to crash and timeout. BOO!

i really drove myself insane by refreshing karmaloop’s twitter and the #BlogHer11 hashtag and being paranoid that the classes i wanted wouldn’t be open… but all of it was for nothing – i got all my classes! just one of those rare neurotic days…

i don’t know much about los rakas except that the homie juan diaz de lindo of anomaly family films did this video for them and it is SO damn catchy. even if you don’t smoke, it’ll make you want to start dancing. seriously. there’s a lot of horrible music out there right now so treat your eyes and ears to some good body moving music. duke is dancing next to me saying, “mommy, i can’t stop my body from moving!”

for the most part i LOVE working concerts. i guess the technicals are a big part of it. the venue changes the rules for the night, i like watching the set up and breakdown, checking out & trippin’ out on the tour rider, scoping out the tour passes and of course, the excitement of catching THEE star(s) of the night and other random star gazing.

britney spears was no exception. even though i don’t care for her music, i was just as excited (maybe even more) to work the 2 nights she came into town.

my observations:

our alcohol rules were strict, ID EVERYONE. i made sure all my cashiers and bartenders understood this. but this didn’t stop rabid underage drinkers from trying. it also didn’t stop old perves from trying to buy young ones drinks. we did evict several girls, we don’t fuck around.
the mix of fans was funny, cute and questionable. lots of blondes, gays, young chicks and OLD people!
lots of people dressed up. i honestly thought some were part of the show LMAO
there were a few catfights but the ones i was amused with were the gay boys pissing off older women. i had one lady who just kept complaining to me about a couple of gay guys. she made it a point to say they were gay too lol
most of the 2 nights were spent observing the crowd and let me just say that a kindergarten class has a higher IQ than most of the blondes in attendance. i could not believe some of the questions asked and some of the convos overheard.
the stage set up & environment was fabulous. the pussycat dolls were awesome. the circus acts during intermission were cool. britney lipsynchs, oh well!
britney brought in her own popcorn boxes & soda cups so that was pretty cool. we didn’t have lids so we couldn’t serve them from our stands but i did see them at her souvenir stands for like $2. they also had masks ($5) and other assorted stuff for cheap.

my sis called me saying she read that kim & khloe kardashian posted on twitter that they pulled up to my work so i ran downstairs hoping to see them and i had to head to the warehouse anyways so when i was leaving i did in fact run into them. it was so funny. just giving an example at how powerful (& scary) twitter can be!

if anyone was to weather a storm it’d be me but this whole year has been a bitch and i just fell back.

shit kept happening, one after another… so much of it to deal with and i needed a breather for myself. most of my absence from here was spent on twitter and playing animal crossing city folk. that game is IT. talk about relaxing me lol

but my saving grace actually happened last night in watching 2 shows that brought back bittersweet memories from being a teen. as lame as it sounds they were: TI’s road to redemption with a 15 year old girl gangbanger named cynthia from south central and icons: metallica

first of all, TI is a stand up celebrity. he fucked up and now he’s trying to fix it while helping others. not only the kids he’s personally helping but the ones watching.. i can appreciate that about him even if i’m not a fan of his music. it shows character and most rappers that do damage (violent rap lyrics, stupid beefs) are celebrated.

cynthia – she got into the gang after her brother was shot and killed when she was 13 and wanted retribution. she had the toughest exterior i’ve seen on the show, her hardcore accent and slang were making me laugh. i grew up knowing a bunch of cynthias because i was raised in long beach. TI brought her to a funeral home in compton then to homegirl cafe where gang members shared their stories.. then he showed her what her future could be, a photographer. i was so touched by the episode because i grew up in the era where west coast rap was the thing and no one wanted to help misguided angels. i wish cynthia the best!!

metallica – i hadn’t watched it and it aired in 2003 so it was a nice treat. i was like WTF at avril lavigne though. really mtv, really? :rolleyes: my faves were snoop doing ‘sad but true’ and korn doing ‘ONE’. i remember the first time i ever saw the video for ONE. i was at my high school best friend’s house and she had it on vhs. taped off late night mtv when mtv still showed videos 24/7 or THE BOX (who remembers the box? you call in and order music videos for .99 – it was the shit). anyways, she put it on and i was blown away. i never seen shit like it and it was then that i started listening to metallica. i was the type of chick that listened to KIIS FM and west coast rap haha

anyways, I’M BACK BITCHES!
